1 Peter 2:2

When the bible comes alive in your life as a new Christian, it's like discovering new foods, sometimes your not so sure of what you are reading but as you read more you start to understand and want more. I love when I get to see my daughter taste a new food for the first time, there is some hesistation becasue of the new taste, and then all of a sudden if she likes it a huge smile usually followed by her asking for more. The same is true for the bible, at first it may be a different taste or feel to what you are reading, but as you read more and search through it more, it begins to make sense and you desire for more. The more you read the better understanding and apperciation you have for the whole story. The Story sacrifice of Jesus for our sins. Now lots of things can get in the way, that can some times discourage us from the bible, or lead us to a skewed view of what the bible is actually trying to teach us. What are some distractions, or things in life that can lead us away from the bible? How can people be lead away from the bible by other people? Thanks for reading.

Psalm 119:105

Cool verse for couple of reasons to me, one, God wrote us this book for it to be a light on our path, which if we think about we need to see on path for direction to a destination, well the Destination is Jesus, the bible points us to Jesus and the grace God gives us through his Son's sacrifice. The more we look to the bible the brighter the light shines towards Jesus, the more clear we see on our Journey of faith, and life. So my encouragement is to look for Jesus when you read the bible, let the word of God illuminate it's self for you to see the Savior. Because we know Jesus is the way the truth and the light. What does this verse say about God's guidance in our lives?

2 Timothy 4:2

Interesting verse today, but I will give you my insight, would love to hear yours as well. We can look at this verse and pull some good stuff out of it, even if we don't stand up and preach in front people. One be ready to talk about the word of God at all times, you never know when a converstation may pop up, so an important reason to be int he word and growning. Also when we use to word to correct some one, doing it with the idea and humblness to have patience with the person we are sharing the word with, and do it with a heart that wants to teach, and not critise. I am also going to post the comments that accompanied the post on my app today. Thanks for reading Teaching the Word What would make the time not favorable? When it says preach the word, do you think this verse is referring just to pastors? How are we to preach the wordî in our lives?

Ephesians 5:25-27

Amazing verse explaining the Gospel as well as a beautiful picture of marriage thrum thelense of Christ. But there is much for all not just the married. If we look closer it gives us a clear picture of what Christ accomplished through the cross. So we can enter into God's kingdom without blemish.Christ gave himself up for us ; What possibly do you need to give up and follow Christ.

John 5:39

A great verse that truly lays out the fact that the entire Bible points to one place. Jesus Christ. Another great thing that I read and see in this verse is that it not about gathering the information, however it points in the direction of the one that really matters Jesus. How do you see Jesus in the scriptures when you read?

Hebrew 4:21

Great Verse to make me think about what really happens when I read Scripture. There are times I know that it pierces my sole. I think what I pray happens more is that each time I read Scripture it pierces my soul each time, imagine what would happen to us if it got that deep each time we are in the word. What times in your life has the word pierced your deepest parts?

John 20:31

Day 2 of Why to read the bible, what I like about this post is a very self explaining Verse on Why John wrote what he witnessed and believed in. He wrote about Jesus and his life so that we may discover Jesus and have life. That is really what I love about scripture, it's all about Jesus, and what his grace is all about us. Giving us life through the accomplishment of the Cross. What does the Cross mean to you?

2 Timothy 3:16

Day one of the bible reading plan. Excited to see where God takes this. I was struck by the phrase "all Scripture is breathed out by God" this right here is a phrase for me that puts the whole Bible in perspective, that it's a Story God wrote and wants us to know.

Question for all you out there, taking the quote "All scripture is breathed by God" What do you do when you don't understand a certain Verse?

Why Read the bible? Reading Plan

Those of you that were at Big House last night and want to take part in the challenge I am posting the link to the Reading plan that I challenged you all to read along with me. This is the Website in which I hope to have discussion and I will post my thoughts and questions to the daily verse. Hope you join along in this journey.

Those of you that were not at Big House Last night I had the privilege to speak on reading the Bible for all it's worth. Reading the Bible as on Big Story of Redemption through Jesus accomplishment on the Cross, and how every verse matters. The Challenge is to get into our bibles and discover that story. The Link below is a reading plan that I hope many do for a month and see what God does through getting into the Bible, feel free to join and participate.
