Day 16 Reflection

Chapter 16 has this great interaction between the rich man, and Abraham, it takes place at the end of this chapter. The key learning from this story is that our earthly life isn't about the accumlation of things, status, and stature. This is a great picture here, a rich man has died and is in Hades, he sees Lazarus a man that was afflicted with many things while he was alive, treated poorly and is now sitting with Abraham in heaven, and the rich man is in torment separated from these two and asking for relief, Abraham in there interaction reminds the rich man of the life that he had Lived, one of wealth and focused on satis, and himself. The rich man then asks Abraham to go and speak with his still alive family members to warn them. What I thought was reflective from this conversation is the fact that this life and how we live it matters, we get one chance to live this live and God desires us to make it count, and to worship Him with our lives, and not the things of this world. In the culture that we live in this is a difficult task, but one that takes sacrifice and love of God and others, and not ourselves.
