Key Verses 10:38-42
Gonna keep it real short tonight. Alot in this chapter but want to only look the last paragraph in the Chapter. What I want to point out about this chapter is How Jesus responds to Martha, the thing we notice is Martha is really busy serving Jesus, and we look at that as a good thing. Finding ways to serve Jesus is great and that should be a real important part of our Christian lives. However when serving becomes the main thing and the thing that is our focus that can be dangerous to our faith. This situation is a perfect example, Martha gets so busy she gets frustrated and Jesus actually rebukes her and basically tells her to slow down and rest in the presence of Jesus, like Mary is doing.V.42 "but one thing is necessary, Mary has chosen the good portion,which will not be taken away from her" Mary chose to sit in the presence of Jesus and focus on him. We need in our lives to make sure we are not cluttering our lives with business, even if it is service to God, because then we do not slow down and sit in the presence of the Lord.
Prayer: Quiet my heart so that I can rest in you. In times of frustration, in times of service, may I rest at the feet of you Jesus and may my focus be drawn to what you have done in my life.
