Luke 20 Day 20

Key Verses Luke 20:17, 20:26, 20:36 20:46-47

Things are starting to pick up from the perspective that the powers that be are incresingly getting more frustrated with Jesus and his message of reptance of sin through Him. We see in the first section of this Chapter that they are starting to challenege his authority. Basically questioning him on why do you have the ability to forgive sins, who are you?

Alot of this chapter is speaking to the fact that those who were in charge really were refusing to sumbit to an authority that was much bigger than them. Really they had become these people that were the ones telling people how they should live, regulating the law. Then here comes this guy that was preaching something totaly different, basically saying the law is not what saves us, but it is Jesus who saves, who can forgive.

V.17 "The Stone that the builders rejected has become the Cornerstone?" What had happened is that the Law had become the stone in which the pharieses, religous leaders had put everything on. Jesus good news his Gospel was speaking to the fact that the law is the reason we need to repent. As we can see in this chapter this made these leaders very upset, causing them to plot and find anyway they could bring charges againist Jesus.
Jesus was well aware and would not let them charge him until the time was right as we see in V. 26 "and they were not able in the presence of the peple to catch him in what he asid, but marveling at his answer they became silent" Another great picture of his authority and putting them in thier place, something that furthered would anger these men.

Prayer: Humble me Lord so that through these next few days my heart is prepared for two things your birth, that we celerbrate on the 25, but also realizing the sacrfice you gave on the cross as we will read in the coming days. Amen
